Introducing the Alabama Gold Club

The staff at the Gold Camp has introduced as many new members to both GPAA groups over the past few years as possible and therefore regret to post that the Phenix City Chapter has elected new officers to run the club and they have decided not to have their meetings or outings at the Gold Camp any longer. We at the Gold Camp recognize how important these outings have been, bringing new people into prospecting and giving them a chance to work with experienced prospectors and equipment. It has also been the beginning of many friendships. Therefore we are pleased to announce the beginning of the Alabama Gold Club. Several members of the Phenix City Group have elected not to follow the new direction the group is heading in and will be taking part in organizing the new Alabama Gold Club. Your help and support would be appreciated.  

The Club will be a non profit club with no membership fees. The sole purpose for the club will be for prospecting with old friends and meeting new ones that share the same interests. The club will meet at the Camp and have outings on the third Saturday of each month, beginning March 19, at which
time officers will be elected. The meetings will be held at the large pavilion at the Gold Camp weather permitting, otherwise it will be held in the newly completed indoor panning area of the store. The club will be run by its officers and members. The Camp will host the club and help anyway possible. For the 2011 season the Camp will offer one night free primitive camping for club members during outings. Any club member bringing someone for the first time for an outing will get free admission to the camp along with the new guest. The standard $5 fee will apply to anyone going to the creek, but there will be no charge for anyone just attending the meeting. The club can use one member dredge and high-banker for the outings at no charge. The Gold Camp will host a Common in October for the Alabama Gold Club members. Admission and use of any member's prospecting equipment used in the October common will be free for anyone that has been in three or more regular outings during the year.
